The Annual 2nd Form Banquet for students of both Alpha and St. George’s College took place at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on June 1. It was a grand affair.
The aim was to rekindle the strong ties between the two schools. It also gave the youngsters a different experience in formality; which has practically died in present Jamaica.
The Alpharians and Dragon Slayers were dressed to kill; the young Princesses in stunning dresses while the Knights, who were not to be outdone were decked in their jackets and ties.
There was a formal dinner followed by presentations to top 2nd form performers of both schools. Teachers were also presented with gifts of appreciation.
No formal event of this nature can be complete without a little dancing. This was interesting as it was a learning experience for the young people. Practically all of them had no clue as to how to do a ballroom dance. It was a different thing though with the modern Jamaican dance moves; shoulder moments and all!!
We have to big up STGC’s 2nd Form Supervisor, Mrs. Sophia Gordon and her counterpart at Alpha for the tremendous work in organizing this unique event.
