Lawrence A. Burke Centre was officially opened on September 06, 2012, at St. George’s College, Kingston, Jamaica.
Most Rev. Edgerton R. Clarke, Archbishop Emeritus of Kingston opened the ceremony with a prayer. The building was blessed by the Most Rev. Charles Dufour, Archbishop of Kingston. The Most Rev. Donald Reece, Archbishop Emeritus of Kingston was also present.
Mr. Milton Millwoood, representative of the class of 1961, presented a plaque to Mrs. Margaret Campbell, Principal. This Class had donated JMD$1 million to the building fund.
Messages were given by Mr. Wayne Wray of the St. George’s College Old Boys Association Jamaica Chapter and Mr. Robert Vernon of the Old Boys’ Association, Ontario Chapter.
Tributes were given by Mrs. Margaret Campbell. Presentations of Plaques of appreciation for their dedication to the completion of the Building were made by Mrs. Campbell to Mr. G. Ray Chang, Mr. Tony Wong and the contractor, Mr. Ray Wynter. Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Tony Wong, President of the St. George’s College Sports Council.
The building project was pioneered by the late Carl Chang, our own Jamaica Liaison Director, and on his passing, managed and funded by G. Raymond Chang.
Thanks go out to the countless numbers of old boys who gave Carl Chang and St. George’s College their moral and financial support.
