Alpha & St. George’s 2nd Form Banquet

The occasion was just the perfect setting for the event. Two of Jamaica’s Roman Catholic Institutions came together for one special evening on June 27, 2017.

The Second Form year group from St. George’s College welcomed whole heatedly their counterpart, the young ladies from the Convent of Mercy Academy “Alpha” to the Second Form Banquet under the theme “United in The Quest For Excellence”.

The young men clad in their St. George’s College tie and the young ladies dressed elegantly; highlighted an occasion that was unique and memorable. Throughout the event, numerous subject awards were given to students from both institutions; celebrating their success.

Mrs. Kali McMorris, Principal of Convent of Mercy Academy “Alpha” stated that it was a new era for the both schools, as we reconnected the strong ties from old times. She believes having formal events like these are helpful to the young ladies social development and it also a motivating factor for the Alpha Girls to be well rounded students.

Mrs. Shelly-Ann and Mr. Dino Williams parents of one of the Alpha students, were both excited and encouraged by the collaboration. Mrs. Williams said that “…Formal occasion like this one would give the girls a different mindset on how they should behave as young ladies…”.

The students from both schools said that the event was simply awesome and enjoyable.

Special thanks to Mrs. Sharon Brown-Flanigan (Alpha) and Mrs. Sophia Gordon (STGC), for the hard work that went into putting on this function. This was the second year that this event has been put on.

St. George’s College and Alpha continue to work for the Greater Glory of God.
